How to search for cheap rentals near coast in south and east Australia?

where can I search online to find a house to rent on Long Island, NY – without a realestate person/company?

I am looking to rent a house on Long Island, but don’t want to have a real estate person involved and have to pay fees and deal with them. I am looking to rent directly from an owner. Where can I search to find this type of rental?
